As far as I know, there has been no people who’ve faced a more chronic history of being berated, than the Jews. A people so distinguished by their ability to perceiver, despite the odds so consistently placed against them, should be a pinnacle example of resilience. No matter who, whether the culprits of their abuse is Christian Europeans or Muslim Arabs, they find a way. Yet, even till this day the polgrom’s against them seem to never end.
Despite this black pilled indication, I can’t help but believe in a more positively potentiating outcome because of my belief in them & sheer human nature to excel especially within the most arduous of times. An entire life of being deeply entrenched in Western culture has made some of my most admired cultural experiences done by fellow Westerners, of Jewish descent. Film, music, art, history, comedians, scientists, philosophers, intellectuals, rabbis, cultural & political pundits, & the list goes on. It’s easy to love such a people & culture. For many Westerners, due to the significant influence of Jewish peoples & culture, they’re practically infused with favour for each other. A relationship that has benefited both parties infinitum. Yet, even with al this, there is some trying to befoul the gathered good will by exploiting it through their hysteria & unreasonableness.
With Israels & Gaza’s most recent conflict, the emotionality has peaked to a seemingly overly chaotic & disordered state. Both sides seem to have no plan or goal of any kind but sheer destruction. Although Gaza is objectively loosing on the ground, they are winning (even if only slightly) internationally through their propaganda campaign to garner public sympathy. I am not sure if Israel is either not aware of (highly doubtful) or not considering (also highly doubtful), is that public sentiment towards the war is half the battle. Loosing international, & even local, support, or supportive sentiment, will have consequences which are multiple folds more damaging imminently & downstream. The recent attack on the World Central Kitchen is a tragedy of war but also a major hit upon Israel’s credibility. One that confounds the mind. For at what point are we going to hear what is the clear goal here & how about will it be gone about? Nobody, not even Israeli’s will accept an endless war. Hopefully, that era is over. I hope that Israel heeds this notice, not as a denigration of their efforts but as a care for their future.
I can also understand how this war is peculiar & more difficult than any one before. In previous conflicts the Arab military forces were distinguishable, with explicit locations. Making targeting them relatively clear & obvious. Freeing both parties from civilian casualty concerns & adding an air of civility to counter to the debilitating chaos that is war. Although it has now changed, & Coleman Hughes summates, excellently, the important strategic realities that Israel (& surely the world) is currently facing, “Hamas has no army, that I know of, in military history, has had 15 years to build 300 miles of tunnel underneath a city that they don’t use to shelter the civilians, but they use to shelter themselves so that they can operate right under a kindergarten, right under a mosque.” A morally abhorrent & strategically catastrophic decision by Hamas. One that is costing their own people their future. In-fact it is the most dangerous threat to the entire world. As Mr. Hughes further elaborates, “Israel doesn’t have a clean shot, and so they have to let Hamas get away with it because it’s too much to bear. But then we are essentially creating a situation where terrorists have found the perfect solution, which is that you can cross the border, go house to house slaughtering your enemies, and then hide behind your own people, and they can do nothing about it. It’s a perfect strategy. Can we live in a world where we allow that to be an acceptable strategy? I don’t think so.”
Hamas’s strategy has no honour or integrity, instead meant to, at best, stun their foe. With no tangible strategic benefit or gain. If only to be retaliated against with ferociousness for your own citizens. It is a strategy of suicide. Instead of admitting defeat so to arise out of the ashes better & anew is a more noble story of a society than one which adamantly chose to just burn in an act of sacrifice at the alter of pride. Choosing defeat is humbling but it leaves the opportunity potential that is the future, open. That is a future a society can build on, unlike the beliefs & acts of the death cult that has become Hamas. The world cannot accept such a strategy to be a legitimate form of combat, & if the Arab world does, then the repercussions will also be significant for themselves, as they’d essentially accepted the presupposition that the regular citizenry is part & parcel of the quasi-militia forces of religious extremists. Directly confirming the a premise about Arabs which was once seen racist, as actually true. It changes everything, for every party involved, in a truly irreparable manner.
